The videos feature the station’s “Holly and Ivy”, and ran alongside a large-scale on-air promotion in the weeks leading up to Christmas 2012.

Newquay Towan Blystra Lions have commissioned Towan Media to produce a series of short films for use on their website.

Each one features a member of Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club, explaining why they became Lions, and why Lionism is so important and rewarding.

The first film features Lions President Phil Bunt.

This week’s Newquay Voice Sport features a back page story, celebrating Newquay AFC’s progession in the Throgmorten Cup at the weekend. There’s also of news of another success, this time in Rugby where the Hornets defeated Liskeard Looe 65-0. There is also an appeal for young women to join the new Hornets female team which has just been set up.

A Newquay man has been rewarded with his dream job and is to become the voice of daytime on one of Cornwall’s most popular radio stations.

30-year-old Matt Bunt (above) has been invited to join Cornwall’s Pirate FM to present the daytime show every weekday between 10am and 2pm.
Matt is a well-known character to many in the resort, as both a photographer for the NewquayVoice and the paper’s sport editor.
He was part of the team that launched Atlantic FM in 2006 and was a regular voice on-air up until it became Heart in May this year. Before that, Matt was also involved in Malibu Surf FM, Newquay’s summer radio station. Matt has been covering shows ad-hoc for Pirate FM since June.
Matt said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity and I am really over the moon to have been asked to join the team at Pirate FM.
“Radio is a real passion of mine and to be able to stay in the county I love with my own show is fantastic. I look forward to being able to sharing in people’s lives every day.
“Everyone has already made me feel really welcome and I look forward to being part of this dedicated team.”
Neil Caddy, Pirate FM’s programme controller, said: “We are extremely happy that yet another ‘local boy’ joins us in the programming team which further underlines Pirate FM’s belief in the talent we already have in Cornwall. Matt will help us to continue delivering genuinely local radio.”
Matt has passed the responsibility for editing the NewquayVoice sport to his father Phil, who had edited the pages for seven years prior. However, Matt will still continue to be part of the Voice team, taking photographs in the evenings and weekends.
Matt added: “Despite the new show, I couldn’t bring myself round to putting my camera down!
“I love being able to capture life in our community, and look forward to being able to continue to do so.”
Matt’s show is on-air weekdays between 10am and 2pm, from Monday (October 29) on 102.2 and 102.8fm.

This included images of the store and surroundings, as well as shots fo the opening itself, and both posed and candid shots of staff and members of the public to be used for press and marketing by the company.

As part of our ongoing relationship with the Newquay Voice, we were comissioned to supply coverage for the recent Cornwall County Mens Gig Championships 2012.

The event attracted 76 crews from across the South West, and was held at Newquay Harbour. On Sunday, special guest Olympic Gold Medallist Helen Glover watched the final and presented the winning medals.

Towan Media supplied all the photographs and copy, including a short interview with Helen. We then put together the special spread for the paper and supplied as a finished product.

This week’s Newquay Voice Sport features a back page story, featuring a photo of Olympic gold medallist rower Helen Glover during her recent visit to the weekend’s Men’s County Gig Championships in Newquay. There’s also news on a local runner, who has completed 100 marathons, and also revealing that the England Bowls team are to visit the resort to take on bowlers from Newquay.
